Fleetwood Mac have gone through countless lineup changes over the years.

They moved from the Peter Green-led lineup into the classic Rumours era and beyond, with only Mick Fleetwood and John McVie being the band's ever-presents throughout their career.

Christine McVie joined the band in 1970 after they had already released several albums, and also sat out the band's run from 1998 to 2014 before her final return, but Stevie Nicks has nevertheless ruled out any sort of reunion after Christine's death in 2022.

"Without Christine, no can do," Nicks told Mojo. "There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.

“Even if I thought I could work with Lindsey [Buckingham] again, he’s had some health problems.

"It’s not for me to say, but I’m not sure if Lindsey could do the kind of touring that Fleetwood Mac does, where you go out for a year and half. It’s so demanding."

But the end of the band doesn't mean that we'll never be able to hear any of its members playing the songs in concert again.

Buckingham has regularly played Mac songs on his own tours, and Stevie said: “Fleetwood Mac is all over my set.

"Now that there is no more Fleetwood Mac, that opens the door for me to do other songs, like 'The Chain', that I’ve never done [solo]. I will keep the music of Fleetwood Mac alive, for as long as I can."

The final Fleetwood Mac lineup saw Nicks, Fleetwood and John and Christine McVie joined by Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House.

Their final show was on November 20, 2019, at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
